The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

My time at Penn State Beaver was certainly a blur! I graduated a semester early with a BA in Corporate Communications and a 3.9 GPA in Dec. 2008, moved out of my parents' house the day after graduation into my first apartment, and started my first professional job as an Assistant Director of Admissions at Education Management Corporation (EDMC) Online Higher Education in Pittsburgh right after Christmas. The real world took some getting used to at first, but my experience at Penn State really helped prepare me for a successful future. As I look back on my college years, I will always take with me many fond memories, from being involved in our campus newspaper staff and SGA, among other activities, to attending events like the All U-Day football games and the scholarship and awards banquets every year. I'd say my favorite memory would have to be winning the Walker Award in 2008, and I couldn't think of a better way to top off my senior year. However, I could not have achieved that or graduated a semester early without the help of my academic advisor, Dr. John Chapin, and I was proud to have served as his research assistant since my freshman year. I am greatly indebted to him and many of my other professors for helping me get to where I am today, and they, as well as Penn State, will always remain an integral part of my life.
